It is not always easy for kids to see how objects relate to each other, especially regarding size and weight. That’s where a balance scale can come in handy. This simple, ancient device allows kids to see how the weight of objects related to one other. The students made their own DIY balancing scale using paper cups, thread and a hanger. They measured the objects and used coins/cubes in place of weights.
