People of Punjab and Haryana celebrate Baisakhi festival or Vaisakhi by thanking God for the good harvest. And the farmers of the country express their happiness and delight through this Indian harvest festival. People wear their best colorful dresses, sing the happiest songs, and dance to the melodious beats of Dhol. It is the most loved harvest festival of Punjab.
To celebrate this festival, students did a corn craft activity. They did finger printing in the corn picture using yellow poster colour/ turmeric mixed in water.
Messy play like finger painting is important to every child’s development. It helps the body and brain integrate information, such as that needed for later spatial concepts, math and language. Finger painting is also a most relaxing and creative way to express feelings.
This means that the students will use their fine or small motor skills. As the student pushes the paint onto and around the paper, blends colors, and smooths the surface, they’ll develop fine motor abilities such as:
- Bilateral skills. As children master this ability, they start to use both of their hands together (at the same time). Finger painting allows the preschooler to move their hands together in chorus as they cover the paper with temperas.
- Eye–hand coordination. Your child will need to coordinate what they see with how they move their hands as they create finger paintings. This skill can provide a basis for other fine motor activities, such as drawing and writing.
- Muscle strength. The ability to control small motor movements while painting can lead to increased finger and hand muscle strength.
