Play is crucial to the development of children's gross and fine motor skills as well as various other skills like listening, speaking, reading, etc. Through play, children practice and perfect control and coordination of large body movements, as well as small movements of hands and fingers.
Some of the activities to develop these skills are:
1. MOVE AND FREEZE DANCE
An excellent dance warm up to start the day with or to be used in between the activities to break the monotony. A dance that the kids enjoy doing in class helps them develop their listening skills. It also helps in learning proper coordination and developing gross motor skills.
2. WALK THE LINE
This tactile game teaches the child to concentrate and to follow the instructions, helps them to maintain their balance by walking on the rope. Helps the young minds understand the visual and auditory signals. It also develops gross motor skills.
3. LISTEN AND SING ALONG

A fine muscular activity using age appropriate props to bring about multifaceted skill development of the nascent minds. Children learn visual skills, colour combinations, sequencing skills apart from their fine muscular development. Girls love making jewellery out of beads for themselves. Friendship bands out of smaller beads is an excellent idea to get along with the fellow students.
